The shoggoth looks up, and its eyes widen. When you have as many eyes as your average shoggoth, this is kind of an impressive sight. So is what happens when all the parts of a shoggoth try to run at once, because inevitably, some of them are going to try and run in different directions from the rest.

Not that this does it any good, because WHAM! goes the fiery meteor into the blistering mess of protoplasmic pseudopods, and the next thing anyone knows, it's raining ick. Ick that happens to be on fire.
