Ray gestures sharply to the graduate students as Eddie's voice rings out. "You heard the man- clear out as fast as you can. As soon as it's safe to do so we're going to take out this temple once and for all."
"But-"
"We can talk about your thesis later! Take the birds and get back to the Houses of Healing!"
Two nods. One salute. The eagles lift off with their riders. Ray turns to the others. "Eddie says intensify on the airbornes-"
A vast purple hand waves through the air, cutting off Ray's words. There's a sparkle in Asar-Suti's eye, simian though he might currently be.
"-or, you know, cut your streams entirely," Ray says. The others stare at him, but they do so.
With an awfully human grin the ape lifts a hand and begins to draw.
The spirits stare, freezing in their places.
The line is bent, turned, gleaming purple in midair-
Some few ghosts have the sense to flee, but the majority are left hanging helpless by their own terror, and are blasted into the realms from which they came, or into nothingness, as Asar-Suti's explosive rune detonates. When the smoke clears, the air around the rooftop is free of ghosts, the living are staring, and Louis Tully is staggering on his feet.
"Uh, 'scuse me," says the dead man, "but I think I kinda might need a hand getting out of here. Somebody stepped on my glasses and being dead doesn't really do much good for the overall shape of the human eyeball-"
Ray wants very much to facepalm right now, but that isn't an option. "We have to get out of here, Sooty," he says. "Fast as we can. Get Andrew down the building-"
"Me?" Andrew exclaims. "Why me?"
"Because you're there, Garion can fly, and my colleagues and I are going down the stairs with the nice zombie."
"We are?" "We are?" "Wait, zombie? I don't think i count as a zombie, I don't even want to eat anybody's-" Tully's head flops sharply to one side. "...okay, yeah, point."
"All right," says ANdrew, "but call me Fay Wray and you're dead."
The great purple ape laughs. "Now, Andrew, would I do that?" he asks, and gathers the young man up. He moves to climb down the outside of the building, and the others flee the rooftop as fast as their varying limbs can take them.
"Eddie," says Ray into the headset when he judges the distance is enough, "we're out of range. Go for it."
