Milliways
Peter's been Bound. He tried to go back to the Firehall last night and the door wouldn't open for him. I opened the door and could've walked into my own reality's Firehall, but when he tried again two seconds later, the door wouldn't let him out. Didn't take that well, I can tell you- I'd be pretty darn upset myself if that happened. Poor guy. I gave him what information I have on the phenomenon, but I don't know how much that helped. He still looked like a pithed frog when I saw him last. I'm gonna stay here at the Bar until he comes unstuck- he was adapting okay to Milliways the last I saw, but that's not the same thing as being stuck in the place. He turned up right when I needed him. I'm not gonna leave him alone in the one place in existence that's weirder than New York City.
Actually, I have to amend that just a little. I'm going to Nevada ASAP- my Nevada- but that's not the same thing. I'm taking Peter (and Andrew, and Romana) with me. We're going to test the PKE beacon and then bring it back here to fire up. Hopefully Pete won't mind bouncing out like that as long as it doesn't look like me just strolling out the door. And it'd be a trip to the scenic Nevada desert, even if he doesn't get to see Las Vegas, so that's something, right?
Impulse says that the test will work, it so happens. The kid's a time traveler so I guess he would know, but hearing it from him and getting the quantifiable results from the experiment are two entirely different things. If this machine generates genuine PKE pulses then it is vital for me to document the test-firing properly. We'll deal with the Tim aspect of things afterwards. I have to find out if it works, and if it fails, I have to find out exactly how it fails. I've come a long way since the experiment in 4F, and part of that is remembering the mistakes we made with the original rotors and containment rune. I have to know what's happening with this beacon. Have to.
Anyway, that's the big stuff. Peter's stuck here, I'm trying to get the PKE beacon to work… oh, and I gave Bart the instructions for Australian Indoor Rules Quidditch. It might be interesting to play when we get back.
