Milliways
For the first time since I arrived here at Milliways it looks as if I might be called on to do some actual busting work instead of merely continuing with parapsychological research. Which is fine with me, since my palms were starting to itch. Don't get me wrong, I love science- always thought that was where my calling lay- but I really hadn't counted on just how far busting gets under your skin. That'll teach me to wonder if I’m just a glorified exterminator who got to save the world (even though he almost provided the form for New York City being destroyed).
On my first visit here, Andrew and I spotted someone who looked very much like his friend Warren. Warren being dead and corporeal, this gave Andrew something of a pause. The similarity of appearance was thrown a bit by the fact that the person we were looking at had a beard. I thought possibly it might be his friend's mirror universe double- you know, from Star Trek? So many other timelines converge at Milliways- why not that one? It turned out I was wrong. Andrew told me last night that the body is Warren's, but it was brought back to life, healed of its little skin problem (it didn't have any), and picked up by a demon looking for flesh to inhabit.
This didn't go over well.
Andrew's asked me if it's possible to get the demon out and Warren back in. I believe it can be done, but we'd have to do it pretty quickly. I'm not sure of the exact measures and countermeasures we'd need to take to get the demon ejected, let alone the specific connections necessary to pull Warren out of his current location and set him back up in his old home. I know the theory, but that's as far as it goes. I'd like to get a good clear set of PKE numbers on the demon so that I'll have something to take back to Egon, because there's no way I can do this by myself.
Well, okay, maybe a few possible ways, but I don't want either Andrew or Warren to have to depend on them. There's some stuff in my old History of Parapsychology texts that might do the trick if I tweaked it and modified it- I'd have to test it first, though, since I never really bothered trying any of the material from the pre-quantification days. If I’m going to do it all I need Egon at the very minimum. Pete and Winston would be good for backup.
Next time I see Warren I'm going to ask him for that antigrav belt, just in case there's trouble again when I walk out that door. Then I'm getting a scan on that demon, or as much of a scan as I can manage, and then I'm going home to get whatever help I can.
And a really, really, really big box of chalk. If this digital copy of Tobin's is right (computerized hand-held spirit information! THIS IS SO COOL), I'm going to need it.
