The police in Poughkeepsie, New York, are a pretty competent bunch of people. Not as easily set off as big-city cops, sure, but they do a good job by their charges. And sometimes, they're more observant than anyone might suspect. The word's out about Pennsylvania, after all. Anything that involves the National Guard and what amounts to the Pied Piper in reverse is something that they don't want in their town.

So when one of them spots a Peterbilt truck with out-of-state plates wheeling into town, and later that afternoon spots a small flotilla of strangers checking into the Days Inn, well... he's gonna ask at the front desk, and then he's gonna call bullshit on all of these guys from Illinois supposedly having come all this way to visit the Culinary.

And when he looks down at the sound of a squeak and a crunch and realizes the parking lot is just beginning to crawl with mice? He's gonna call a few people in Pennsylvania, and then he's gonna call his chief, and then, by mutual agreement, they are going to call the Ghostbusters.

Where that truck is he doesn't know, but he wants it gone.

"That should work nicely," Ray says. "I kind of like the sludge monster idea, for starters. How big can the volume that you brought me assemble into?"

"I think at least schoolbus-sized big, if not more from one egg, but that's just a straight bubble." Tyler thinks about it. "Honeycomb the insides with air and you'd probably get something Volkwagen Bug sized."

Ray nods. "Big enough to make people run screaming if we can run them down indoors," he says. "Let's face it, nothing that big belongs inside. That should do nicely."

"I think," Ray says, "that we need to stop at the Bob's Sporting Goods on the way to Poughkeepsie and invest in a couple of boxes of light sticks. It's amazing how easily you can cut those open."
