Poughkeepsie Attacks!!!: Team Big Blue

The IBM Supercomputer Benchmarking Plant in Poughkeepsie lies at the center of an enormous corporate campus on the northern side of town. As far as Ray can tell, that's where the really hairy readings were coming from, although he could of course be wrong.

He's about to find out. Ecto pulls to a stop just outside the main entrance to the IBM property. "Are we good?" Ray asks.

Seeing his comrade-in-arms reel backwards from the force of the aforementioned archaeologist fist, another guard starts to run to his aid. Indy goes for his gun again, in a typically complacent fashion, and fires one his final rounds into the attacker's shoulder.

More ownage. Ho hum.

The gunfire that drops the wounded guard gets ignored by Peck. The sound of the big guard barking out a single profanity Harry Wells would be proud of as the Slayer rips his gun from his hand is another story. "Warner!" he says, his head coming up sharply.

Warner isn't available for comment right now. He's trying to put his remaining working thumb into any of the soft parts of Mel's face he can reach. Also trying to get his legs into position to leverage the bitch off him, or at least flip them over- she's strong as hell but he's pretty sure he outmasses her...

Peck's lips go thin and he sinks down low among the electronica. There's a sudden, sharp ominous hum.

Oh he outmasses her. But that strong as hell thing is a big issue. Mel flips over and brings him with her, letting him go long enough to kick him backwards towards the truck.

His gun is crushed in her hand.

Andrew, Ray, Flynn and any other movie lovers in the group have surely enjoyed the display of canon moves from Indy. His repertoire is almost exhausted now though, to the point where he's just repeating stuff. He takes a relaxed aim on the final guard exhibiting any discipline...

Only to hear the grim click of the firing pin hitting a spent bullet casing. He's out of ammo.

Fortunately this last guard is still focused on shooting Mel, since she seems to be the more imminent threat to the project. So Indy charges him too, barreling into him and knocking him to the ground. From there it's just a case of slugging him without mercy until he's out cold.

What? He really hates Nazis!

That's fine! He's entitled to it. Ray is more than happy to let Indy have happy fun fist time with this guy's face. Especially since some of the screamers have given up on running from the pseudo-shoggoths- one of which is lumbering into the park in all its greenly luminescent glory- and are pulling out the guns that didn't do them any good against the blobs. They've finally realized they're up against people as well as monsters, and with their comrades' guns gone quiet they have a chance at showing off themselves...

Understand that these are the less skilled and less disciplined of the bunch. Some of them know what they're doing with their handguns. Others think that you can hold a gun sideways and shoot it all cool-looking and still get the same results. And some of them wouldn't have guns at all if the authors of the Second Amendment had been aware for an instant that men who took their firearms so lightly might try to handle them. They're more likely to damage property than people, and more likely to cause accidental harm than intended. But still, they're dangerous.

And Ecto realizes that, because she says, "Dad, everybody, stay behind me," and steps over the humans from Milliways. Not to go for the truck, but to get between them and the firefight. She's no Asimov robot, but she shares her father's desire not to see his people hurt.

Tyler needs no other urging to hide behind Ecto. When a giant semi-alien AI robot tells you to freaking hide under it in a gunfight, you HIDE. Tyler has no wish to start resembling swiss cheese or a pancake.

He will so be asking Santa or the superhero equivilant for some bulletproof super-undies. And a larger pack for Daffy Putty eggs as he pulls out a smaller Gameboy and starts pushing in the combo for the first setting as fast as he can.

The objective is to take out these gangsta wannabes. "Ecto, I've got a restraint putty ready!"

Tilda knows what to do with guns, at least.

The first part involves staying the heck behind Ecto. She's not insane.

The second part involves popping her head up and yoinking one away from its idiot whenever she can get a clear line-of-sight. The trajectories she aims to throw them on involve a whole lot of up with a secondary component of away from the truck with the Ark in it.

Mirai, for his part, also hides behind Ecto.

"I wish I had my gun," he says. "Does anyone have anything I can throw?"

Tyler passes a buzzing egg towards Mirai.

"Here! Toss it at the biggest group of shooters!"

Approaching from the rear, one slightly winded Librarian.

"Sorry I'm late, guys, got a little -- holy crap, Ray, is that your car? -- sidetracked. Did I miss anything?"

*Andrew pipes up from his spot behind Ecto's left leg.*

Uh -- bunch of Nazi lamers running around and screaming; fake shoggoths from our side; Indy and Mel being generally awesome; some gunplay; and, um, Ecto says we should all stay behind her now.

Mirai throws the egg. He's got a good arm!

"Hello," he says, "we encountered some very unpleasant men and a magical circle."

Flynn winces. "Not nearly as bad as that guy's just got," he says to Andrew's question. "But, yeah, ditto Nazis, ditto awesome, not so much with the shoggoths, though."

He whimpers, "I am supposed to destroy creatures like that, not summon them."

right, list of people Tyler needs to have talks with. Anige, Mirai, Angie again, and then maybe start asking for more weaponry.

If it were the sort of thing he'd say, he'd probably admit along the lines of 'I got nothing'. As it is, he just sort of scratches his ear.

Ray went to an engineering school at Columbia. Engineers occasionally get their hands on movies they shouldn't. Sometimes they have names like Urotsukidoji. Hence the face.

Ecto, for her part, goes "Eeew!", but otherwise remains unmoved. She turns towards the truck and says, "Dad, I think I can handle him-"

"Oh, no," comes the sound of Peck's bullhorn-amplified voice. "No, actually, I don't think you can. CEASE FIRE, ALL OF YOU- and stay right where you are, robot."

No one has ever said Peck had a commanding presence, but you know? Nobody's shooting any more.

"I want to talk to you, Doctor Stantz. Where I can see you."

Ray looks at the others and spreads his hands a little. "Think you guys can cover me?" he asks.
