The door opens, as has happened so many times before, onto a grey-walled alley. Ray pokes his head out and looks around. "Okay," he says. "We should be all right- come on out, guys."
"It's a spring," she says. "Only it isn't springy."
This is fascinating, obviously.
Reluctantly, she sets it back on the shelf; it doesn't seem like it would be as much fun without the flat planes and sharp angles of this world. Maybe if she could take it back to the steps in Kilika.
(But then she's never going back to Kilika, and now she steps a little faster and grabs something up at random.)

Date: 2007-02-02 05:04 am (UTC)If Tidus knew about, "Whut." he would be saying just this.
As it is, he looks vaguely shocked.
He's aware Ray had never heard of the game, mind, but still!
...But there are other balls that catch his attention fairly quickly.
"--Yuna! Feel this!"
And lo, he did discover a basketball.

Date: 2007-02-02 05:29 am (UTC)Tidus could quite happily spend more time here.
"Maybe we could bring Wakka one of the smaller ones?"

"Well. Uh. We'd have to get you something true. It's only fair."
Oh yeah, he wants the orangeball.
It's STILL BOUNCING.

Date: 2007-02-05 12:37 pm (UTC)...Tidus doesn't see a reason you can't bounce as you go along, really.
He also snagged the baseball for Wakka. Just cause.
"...What's that?"
It's interesting.
It also looks like it might EAT HER HAND if she got it caught in it.

It's the exact opposite of a ball.

When she's turning it over in her hands, one of the layers rotates. "Oh!"
She peers at the art on the tag, ignoring the tiny and eye-blurring print. "I think it's a puzzle?"

...Okay, mostly giant kittyman would eat him.
He follows her, ball still bouncing, and gets rung up--and manages to pay with a minimum of problems--before they're back on the street.
And now he doesn't know what to say again.
Dammit.
